Who’s ready for cooler temperatures? Not to mention we’re one day closer to the official end of the 2024 Atlantic hurricane season.

The cold front is expected to “bring the coldest temperatures the state has seen since the winter months earlier this year,” according to the Florida Department of Emergency Management.

The front helped pull moisture associated with the remnants of former Tropical Storm Sara into Florida this week. South Florida and the Keys are expected to clear today, November 21.

Elsewhere in the tropics, the National Hurricane Center indicates no tropical activity is expected for the next seven days, nearly bringing us to the official end of hurricane season on November 30.

This does not mean that tropical storms or even hurricanes will not form after that date. It happened, but the chances drop sharply at the end of the month.

National Hurricane Center stops publishing twice a day tropical views Nov. 30 will only be back in action if forecasters detect something we need to know.

Cold weather brings coldest temperatures of the season to Florida

Cold weather is expected to continue in Sara, associated with showers and thunderstorms Clear South Florida and the Keys by late Thursday, According to AccuWeather.

AccuWeather meteorologists said the “major cold snap will bring the coldest air of the season to much of the Southeast and Florida on Thursday and Friday.”

Temperatures may drop 5 to 15 degrees below historical average by the end of the week. Humidity levels will drop significantly in parts of the Southeast and Florida following Tropical Rainstorm Sara.

Is there anything happening in the tropics?

There are currently no disturbances in the Atlantic basin other than the remnants of former Tropical Storm Sara. According to the National Hurricane Center, no tropical cyclones are expected for the next seven days.

The Atlantic basin consists of the northern Atlantic Ocean, the Caribbean Sea, and the Gulf of Mexico.

The official Atlantic hurricane season runs from June 1 to November 30, but tropical systems can develop at any time.
