NFL issues security alert to teams, players union after recent thefts

The NFL has issued a security alert to teams and the players’ union following recent burglaries at the homes of Chiefs stars Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce.

The NFL issued a safety alert to teams and the players union on Thursday. After the recent thefts It includes the homes of Chiefs stars Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce.

In a memo obtained by The Associated Press, the league says the homes of professional athletes in many sports are “increasingly the target of burglary by organized and skilled groups.”

Law enforcement officials stated that these groups target homes on days when athletes are playing matches. Players have been told to take precautions and home safety precautions to reduce the risk of being targeted.

Some of the theft groups have conducted extensive surveillance on targets, including home delivery attempts and posing as field maintenance or runners in the neighborhood.

The thieves entered through side doors, balconies or second-floor windows. They targeted homes in secluded areas and focused on master bedrooms and closet areas.

Players are warned to refrain from updating any social media with check-ins or daily activities until the end of the day. Posting expensive items on social media is not recommended.

According to law enforcement reports, Mahomes and Kelce’s homes were broken into within days of each other last month. The thefts occurred just before and on the day of Kansas City’s 26-13 home victory over the New Orleans Saints on October 7; Kelce’s superstar girlfriend Taylor Swift also watched from the stands. No injuries were reported in either case.
