The former Citizen TV news anchor stated in a Facebook reel that one can meet a 45-year-old boy and a 23-year-old man.

He emphasized that dating is all about maturity and not age because sometimes a younger person can be more mature than an older person.

“I read a quote the other day that said you can meet a 45-year-old boy and a 23-year-old man because maturity does not depend on your birth year,” he said.

Is age a factor in relationships?

“It could be a 45-year-old man who does not accept accountability and is not self-aware, or a 23-year-old man who is empathetic, responsible and has a sense of identity.” he said.

Mbugua stated that sometimes people make the mistake of thinking that partners aged 40 and over are mature.

“Many people seek wisdom from people who are not developed beyond the age they should have, and that is harmful because then you are guided by someone who is not wise,” he explained.

He stated that being with someone who is unevolved encourages the repetition of unhealthy patterns, including toxic culture, unhealthy thoughts about society, women, girls, and boys and men’s role in society.

According to him, this may be the cause of intergenerational trauma.

Noting that the same situation applies to women, he explained that a 23-year-old mature woman can have a 40-year-old girl.

“Age may bring wrinkles, but it doesn’t always bring wisdom. “Let’s stop just looking at age, it’s not always a factor,” he added.
