GRPD, Kent Co Deputies continue to search for missing Cortez McConer Jr.

ROCKFORD, Michigan — ’16-year-old Cortez McConer Jr. remains missing.’ A statement from the Grand Rapids Police Department (GRPD) begins Nov. 18. They announced a search area on November 19 and an effort that will continue on Friday.

McConer was last seen by his family in late October and was considered a fugitive by Grand Rapids Police until November 2.

His family made multiple calls; GRPD tells FOX 17 he was last seen running from police near the McDonald’s in Division E, west of Courtland Drive NE and Kies St NE in Rockford.

Starting Wednesday, GRPD and Kent County Search and Rescue Officers began searching the area between 10 Mile Rd at Northland Dr and Belding Rd at Blakley Dr.

Officers from multiple agencies will be in the area, going door to door in neighborhoods and canvassing areas in hopes of finding McConer or finding a clue to his location.

“It’s possible Cortez was actively hiding, believing he was in trouble with the police,” Chief Eric Winstrom told reporters. “He may be running away from the searchers. I want to make it clear that our only goal is to bring Cortez home safely.”

“Baby, come home. We miss you so much,” Cortez’s mother, Kisha Haggerty, told FOX 17 in an earlier interview. “I promise I won’t be upset. Just come home. We miss you. We miss you so much.” Please come home, please, please.”

If you have any information on the whereabouts of Cortez McConer, please call GRPD detectives at (616) 456-3380 or Silent Observer at (616) 774-2345.
