Life imprisonment for the man who stabbed his ex-girlfriend and his mother

Schemitz’s mother, Jaclyn “Jacki” Roge, was also stabbed by Pearson along with the third victim, Kennedy Armstrong, while trying to protect her daughter.

Authorities said Armstong suffered serious hand wounds after he tackled and subdued Pearson until police arrived, but not before the attacker slit his own throat in an attempted suicide.

Less than a year after she was attacked, Schemitz, now a freshman in college, underwent intensive physical therapy and was able to walk on stage to receive her high school diploma, according to SJSO.

Pearson made a statement to the judge before his sentencing, stating that he wanted to “take responsibility for my actions” and “extend my sincerest apologies” to the three victims. WJXT.

“I’m sure June 3 was the worst day of their lives,” Pearson said. “It was also my worst day and always will be. I hurt three innocent people today. Every second of every day I think about the terrible crimes I have committed. “It’s always on my mind and that will never change.”

“I need serious help and have needed it for a long time,” he added.

Following his sentencing, Schemitz shared his own statement. “As we move forward from here, our focus is on healing and rebuilding. “Although this chapter was difficult, it is now behind us,” he said, according to images shared by local media.
