SAPD says man dead, woman injured after encounter with thieves outside Twin Peaks restaurant

The conflict took place around 01:00 on Saturday.

SAN ANTONIO – An attempted robbery turned into a fatal shooting outside a restaurant on the Northwest Side, San Antonio police officers said.

Investigators say a man and woman were eating at Twin Peaks, located on the Interstate 10 access road near De Zavala Road, around 1 a.m. Saturday morning. After they finished eating, police said the man and woman walked out of the restaurant and saw several people trying to break into their car.

The man confronted the thieves and a verbal fight broke out. A SAPD sergeant at the scene told KSAT that one of the robbers pulled a gun and shot the man.

The man was shot in the chest. When medical teams arrived at the scene, it was determined that the person had died. Officers said the woman was grazed by the same bullet but suffered non-life-threatening injuries.

Authorities said the attacker left the scene in a dark-colored vehicle. It is not yet known how many thieves were involved in the incident.

SAPD said the investigation is ongoing.
