Singaporean arrested for allegedly making fake bomb threat at Bangkok airport, Singapore News

A Singaporean man was arrested for making a fake bomb threat at Bangkok Don Mueng International Airport on Friday (November 22).

According to Khaosod English, the man identified as Ho made the fake call targeting the AirAsia plane as it taxied for takeoff at 2.47pm on Thursday, November 21.

According to The Nation, flight FD 3114 flew to Hat Yai in Songkhla province and carried 162 passengers and six crew members.

Upon the threat, the takeoff of flight FD 3114 was immediately stopped and the passengers were evacuated. The aircraft was then returned to the bay for inspection.

Authorities called off the emergency at 7:30 p.m. after confirming that no suspicious objects were found on the plane or among the passengers, The Nation reported.

Ho was arrested at the airport terminal

At a press conference on November 23, Police Lieutenant General Choengron RimPadee, Commander of Immigration Division 2 and spokesman for the Immigration Bureau, said Ho was arrested around 7 pm on November 22.

Police tracked his phone and found him at the airport terminal. It was also revealed that Ho had exceeded his visa period by 28 days. He later admitted making the false threat, attributing his actions to stress over family issues.

According to reports in Thai media, Ho entered Thailand using an Apec Business Travel Card and had no previous criminal record.

Thai police said they were investigating the incident and would consider filing further charges if necessary. Ho may also be sued by the airport, the airline, and affected passengers for damages caused by the incident.

According to Police Lt. Gen. Choengron, Ho will be deported after his trial and will be “permanently blacklisted from entering Thailand.”

Ho could face up to 15 years in prison, a fine of up to 600,000 baht ($23,400), or both, for violating the aviation law.
