Police were called to the Terrace March in Bath in the early hours of Sunday

A man was taken to hospital in a critical but stable condition following a stabbing in Bath.

Avon and Somerset Police were called to Terrace Walk at around 02:55 GMT following reports that a man had suffered multiple stab wounds.

The victim, who was given first aid by police officers and citizens, was later taken to the hospital where he remained with injuries that were thought to be life-changing.

An 18-year-old youth was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder, and a 19-year-old youth was arrested on suspicion of aiding a criminal. Both will remain in police custody pending further investigations.

‘Sad and sad’

Chief Inspector of Neighborhood Policing Karen Corrigan said: “I understand this will be a distressing and distressing incident for the community and I would like to reassure the public that we are committed to conducting a full and comprehensive investigation.

“I would like to recognize the work of members of the public and paramedics who provided immediate first aid to the victim before officers arrived, as well as the work of the officers who continued to provide this first aid.”

A cordon remains in place on Terrace Walk as investigations continue and the public can expect to see an increased police presence in the coming days.
