The government said Bangladesh security forces had not dismissed any of its officers or members in line with the recommendations of the commission to investigate cases of enforced disappearances in the country.

“Many TV channels are broadcasting false news regarding this fabricated development,” Deputy Press Secretary to the Chief Counsel Abul Kalam Azad Majumder said today (November 25).

Azad said the commission’s chairman, Justice Moyeenul Islam Chowdhury, confirmed that they had not made such a recommendation.

“The news that 22 members of the country’s security forces were dismissed on our recommendation is a lie. This is a fake news,” Justice Chowdhury was quoted as saying by Azad.

“We hope TV stations will make a correction,” Azad said.
