– Kannur:

A gang of thieves fled from the house of a prominent businessman in Valapattanam in this area with cash worth Rs 1 million and 300 gold coins, police said on Monday.

The theft took place when the homeowners had gone to Madurai in Tamil Nadu to attend a marriage ceremony.

It was stated that the theft incident came to light when the residents of the neighborhood who returned to their homes on Sunday night noticed that the valuables stored in the closet were missing.

Police sources said the residents had been away from home since November 19.

It was claimed that thieves entered the house by cutting the kitchen iron. CCTV footage showed three people climbing the wall of the site and entering the house.

One of the family’s relatives told the media that the money, gold and other valuables were kept in a locked cabinet with the key in another room.

The police team and fingerprint experts came to the house, collected evidence, and a large-scale search was launched to catch the suspect.
