How to apply for ULEZ exemption?

You can use: TfL online checker tool To check whether your vehicle meets emissions standards, you will only need to provide a Certificate of Conformity if the vehicle is not considered exempt by TfL. If you do not have a certificate, the vehicle manufacturer will be able to provide one, but it is your responsibility to provide proof. Without this, you will be fined for entering the zone without paying.

If the online checker says your vehicle meets the standards, you don’t need to submit any application and you’re free to enter the zone.

Other vehicles exempt from ULEZ

Some types of vehicles automatically qualify for ULEZ exemption:

  • historical vehicles: All vehicles produced before January 1, 1973 and registered in the historical vehicle tax class
  • London licensed taxis
  • Definite disabled tax class and wheelchair accessible private hire vehicles are exempt until 24 October 2027
  • Specialist agricultural tools
  • military vehicles
  • like others mobile cranes, showman vehicles And excavators

How to apply for ULEZ exemption?

If you believe your vehicle should be exempt from ULEZ, you will need to register your vehicle with Transport for London.

Before starting the application London Road User Charging accountcan be done as part of the process. You will also need the following documents:

  • A copy of the tool V5C or equivalent outside the UK
  • Certificate of Conformity or letter from the vehicle manufacturer stating the European standard of the vehicle
