1 dead in violent crash on 5 Freeway in Tustin

One person is dead after a fiery crash in the northbound lanes of the 5 Freeway in Tustin Monday morning, authorities said.

Investigators said an SUV crashed into the center partition around 3:10 a.m. and burst into flames. When first responders arrived, one person in the vehicle was pronounced dead at the scene.

One person told the California Highway Patrol that a red sedan was being driven recklessly before the crash.

A SigAlert was issued for hours while traffic was diverted on Jamboree Road. All lanes were reopened at 07.30 in the morning

The circumstances of the accident are being investigated.
