Opoku Onyinah, Duncan-Williams and Others Facing Possible Investigation and Prosecution Over National Cathedral Agreement

The Commission on Human Rights and Administrative Justice (CHRAJ) has recommended that the trustees of the National Cathedral project be subject to judicial review and possible prosecution.

The commission justified this recommendation, citing violations of procurement laws, following a petition from Samuel. Okudzeto AblakwaMember of Parliament for North Tongu.

Commission said did not find any element corruption But he says the violations cited in the lawsuit raise “reasonable suspicion of corruption.”

Report It highlights several violations of Ghana’s procurement laws, particularly in the award of the construction contract to Ribade Company Ltd.

The report stated that the contract was deemed invalid from the beginning because it did not comply with the mandatory provisions of the Tender Law.

In its recommendations, CHRAJ called on the Public Procurement Authority (PPA) to cancel the contract. Ribade was given a $312 million contract without any due process.

“The Commission also recommends further investigation and possible prosecution of the National Cathedral Board of Trustees who oversaw the award of the contract to the Ribade Company in disregard of the amended Law 663.”

The Commission plans to refer the case to the Office of Special Prosecution (OSP) or the Attorney General for further investigation and prosecution.

  • Rev Dr Joyce Aryee – Executive Director, Salt and Light Ministries – Member,
  • Bishop Dag Heward-Mills — Bishop, President of the Lighthouse Group of Churches -Member;
  • Rev Eastwood Anaba — Founder and President of Eastwood Anaba Ministries — Member;
