LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WAVE) – A man has been arrested following a crash in west Louisville over the weekend.

Louisville Metro police say 19-year-old Lorenzo T. Johnson was driving under the influence and crashed when he ran a red light on West Broadway just after 3 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 23, 2024. Kaza, Dr. It happened near WJ Hodge Street. Where Russell and California neighborhoods meet.

Johnson is charged with assault, wanton endangerment, criminal mischief and driving under the influence, according to an arrest warrant.

When LMPD officers arrived, they found the two cars involved in the crash; One of them crashed into a building.

Police said two people were seriously injured.

The arrest report stated that Johnson admitted to drinking and that his blood alcohol level was 0.147 in a blood test. That’s nearly twice the legal limit for a 21-year-old.

Johnson was arrested at the Louisville Metro Correctional Facility and appeared in court Monday.

The judge found that bond was incorrectly set at $50,000 when it was supposed to be $500,000. Johnson’s legal team argued that he had no criminal history and that his family’s financial situation did not allow him to post bail.

They asked for $50,000 bail. The judge instead agreed to reduce Johnson’s bond to $100,000.

He will appear in court again on December 3.
