There’s a new fountain in central London! Burst of water main outside Victoria Station causes chaos

Water main burst nearby Victoria Station It caused travel chaos on Tuesday morning after several feet of water was shot into the air.

The incident, which happened at around 5am on Victoria Street in central London, caused eight buses to be diverted as engineers closed the westbound section of the road to repair a burst pipe.

The road is partially closed Vauxhall Bridge The road reopened around 8 a.m. as engineers worked to resolve the problem.

An eyewitness at the scene said: “I spoke to the engineers and they put a digger on top to stop it gushing out. They said it was caused by an old Victorian pipe, which happened about five o’clock this morning.

“Everyone had free car washes, all the buses and everything.

“It’s kind of a disaster zone that an old Victorian pipe could cause this kind of disruption.

“Now they stopped it until Thames Water I can go out to fix it.”

TfL Bus routes 3, 11, 26, 148, N11, N26, N44 and N136 have been rerouted while Thames Water works to repair the burst pipe.

Buses heading west to Victoria are diverted via Rochester Row and Vauxhall Bridge Road, missing stops at Westminster Town Hall and Westminster Cathedral/Victoria Station.

Eastbound buses are routed via Victoria Street, Grosvenor Gardens, Lower Grosvenor Place, Bressenden Place and Victoria Street but do not miss any stops.
