Woman dies in shooting west of Kansas City, murder investigation launched

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) – A shooting near Gage Park in Kansas City, Missouri has led police to launch a homicide investigation.

The Kansas City, Missouri Police Department responded to the 1300 block of West Bluff Drive just before 8:30 p.m. Monday night. This is just west of Gage Park and a few blocks northwest of Boulevard Brewing.

When police arrived, they were informed that the two shooting victims had just left the scene in a vehicle. Additional officers located a vehicle containing two female shooting victims in Ceaser Chavez.

Both women were taken to hospital. One woman died, and the other was stated to be in stable condition.

KCPD said a preliminary investigation revealed that a major disturbance occurred outside an apartment at the West Bluff Townhomes, involving two women. As more people arrived at the scene, the tension grew even more and shots were opened.

Police said it was unclear whether one or more people fired a gun, but the gunshots struck both victims.

There is no suspect in custody at this time. Police said they are gathering evidence and working to better determine what led to the shooting.

This is an evolving story. KCTV has a crew on scene to determine more.
