The Philippine Police said Wednesday that they have filed a formal complaint against Vice President Sara Duterte and some of her security officials regarding a recent incident in the lower house of Congress.

The Philippine National Police (PNP) said in a statement that the complaint stemmed from direct assault, insubordination and heavy pressure during an incident that took place in a lower room and a hospital.

Duterte, the daughter of fiery former President Rodrigo Duterte, has been the subject of a heated congressional investigation during which she repeatedly clashed with lawmakers during her tenure as vice president and secretary of education.

“The PNP remains committed to upholding justice and ensuring that all individuals, regardless of their position, are held accountable before the law,” police chief Rommel Francisco Marbil said. he said.

The complaint was filed against Philippine President Ferdinand Marcos Jr., with whom he was running for office. It was the last defeat suffered by Duterte after the sharp deterioration in his relationship with Erdoğan.

Duterte is furious that his aide, who is also facing a house investigation, was detained in the lower house complex. The deputy was then transported to a public hospital for medical attention.

On Saturday, Duterte said he had hired an assassin to kill the president, his wife and the speaker of the Philippine legislature if he were killed, prompting a rebuke from Marcos.

Philippine legal authorities on Tuesday called Duterte for questioning over his statements. He said his words were twisted to create a false narrative that Marcos’ life was under active threat, and called his words “an act of conditional revenge.”
