Crowborough day center closure proposals ‘inexcusable’, user says

Ms Matthews says the center has been a lifeline for many and without it her son’s world would “close down”.

East Sussex County Council has said it aims to save £124,000 by closing Hookstead, which is used by 42 people.

This is one of four daily services that are in danger of being closed by the authority.

Tom Martin, 23, also has autism spectrum disorder and attends Hookstead four days a week.

His father, Sid Martin, says he is struggling to find fifth day care for him and is worried the family will have to consider live-in care if the center closes.
