The Asokore Mampong District Court, led by Lady Esther Rida, dismissed the case involving Prophet Adom Kyei-Duah and Kumawood actor Sean Paul.

In July 2024, Prophet Adom Kyei-Duah caused the arrest of Sean Paul after the actor accused him of extorting money from church members.

During an interview on RTV, Sean Paul criticized the sale of ‘sobolo’ (Hibiscus water) and other items allegedly for spiritual purposes at Kyei-Duah’s church, calling it deceptive and likening it to daylight robbery.

These comments prompted Prophet Adom Kyei-Duah, executive director of the Believers Worship Center, to file a formal complaint with the police. As a result, Sean Paul was arrested and charged with defamation of character, which led to him being taken to court.

After his first hearing, Sean Paul was taken into custody. His lawyers appealed to the High Court, which ultimately resulted in his release, although Asokore continued to attend hearings at the Mampong District Court.

However, in recent events, the original judge overseeing the case was replaced by Lady Esther Rida, who expressed concerns about the handling of the case.

He questioned why the arrest and subsequent legal proceedings that began in Feyiasi were transferred to the Asokore Mampong Court, GHPage reports.

He also asked about the logic behind moving the case, which is a civil case on this matter, to multiple jurisdictions before going to this court.

Taking these concerns into account, the judge dismissed the case. It was also reported that Ms. Rida also recorded other cases of a similar nature.

How critics of Adom Kyei-Duah were arrested

Sean Paul’s case is part of a growing process that has seen Prophet Adom Kyei-Duah arrest many of his critics.

Recently, a video was shown on Multi-TV in which a person named Pastor Frimpong, who openly criticized Adom Kyei-Duah, was arrested.

The video showed Pastor Frimpong, handcuffed, sitting in a police vehicle next to two police officers, clearly distressed and begging for forgiveness.

In addition to Sean Paul and Pastor Frimpong, those allegedly arrested by Kyei-Duah include socialites, pastors and public figures such as Pastor Osofo Abronoma, Agya Obofour and a Takoradi-based pastor who was infamously arrested while under surveillance. a tree
