(Politics) Permanent Special Prosecutors and Budget Passed “Opposition Leadership” Law… Ruling party’s “unconstitutional and illegal”

If the president and his family are subject to investigation, the ruling party passed the plenary session of the National Assembly to revise permanent special prosecution rules that prohibit the ruling party from proposing special prosecutors.

The draft law, which would allow the opposition party with the majority of seats to come forward in the budget review, which the ruling party opposed on the grounds that it was illegal and unconstitutional, also passed the general assembly threshold.

Reporter Hong Min-ki reported on the matter.

The Democratic Party’s proposal to change the permanent special prosecution rules was accepted in the plenary session of the National Assembly led by the opposition party.

If the President and his family are subject to investigation, the ruling party’s right to recommend a special prosecutor is excluded and the share is given to non-consultative organizations.

The Democratic Party emphasized that this is a bill that will prevent the president from conflicts of interest so that a more fair investigation can be conducted.

Since permanent special prosecution is already a law in effect, the president cannot request reconsideration, so the plan is for some suspicions regarding Kim Gun-hee to be investigated with a permanent special prosecutor.

(Kim Yong-min / Minjoo Party member: Today, we must pass the revision of the special prosecutor’s working rules to ensure an impartial and fair investigation of the president and his family.)

On the other hand, the ruling party objected, saying that the Democratic Party of Korea will choose the special prosecutor and the subject of the investigation as it wishes, and that the special prosecutor who is not selected with the agreement of the ruling and opposition parties will be dismissed. unconstitutional.

(Joo Jin-woo / People’s Power) In short, another prosecutor’s office will be created within the Democratic Party. This rule does not directly comply with the constitutional spirit and system of our Republic of Korea.

The revision of the Turkish Grand National Assembly Law, which could increase the influence of the opposition party in the budget review, also exceeded the general assembly threshold.

Currently, the aim is to prevent this by automatically uploading the government’s original plan to the general assembly session if the ruling and opposition parties cannot complete the budget review by the legal deadline.

The opposition party passed the bill, saying the National Assembly should strengthen its right to review the budget, and the ruling party protested that the Democratic Party of Korea had once again taken the lead, holding people’s livelihood hostage.

The revision of the law strengthening the right of the Turkish Grand National Assembly to request witnesses to accompany witnesses at hearings and strengthening the obligation to present data was also discussed by the opposition party.

Of course, other controversial bills, other than the revision of the permanent special prosecution rules, are highly opposed to the ruling party, and Chairman Yoon is likely to exercise his right to request reconsideration, so it is unlikely that he will pass the final legislation.
