Nebraska football coach Dana Holgorsen and Dylan Raiola meet with media

Nebraska football coach Dana Holgorsen and Dylan Raiola meet with media

Nebraska offensive coordinator Dana Holgorsen And point guard Dylan Raiola met with the media in preparation for the annual Black Friday match against Iowa Hawkeyes.

The two were asked to comment on their relationship and the improving Husker offense. One of the most interesting comments came from the Cornhuskers’ new offensive coordinator.

Holgorsen noted that many members of the Nebraska offensive staff have roots in the National Football League. He believes this is because the playbook is too big for a college football team and everything needs to be scaled back for the offense.

Quarterback Dylan Raiola discussed his relationship with Holgorsen, the progress the two have made together and the impact it has had on the offense.

Kickoff for the Huskers and Hawkeyes will be on Friday at 6:30pm CT. The game will air on NBC and Peacock. You can find Holgorsen and Raiola’s comments by scrolling down.

“We won. At the end of the day, that’s what matters. I give all the credit in the world, starting with Coach Rhule. I thought he did a great job all week of motivating the players and getting them ready for the game. Frankly, I look at it a little differently because I just came here. It’s been a long season for these guys. A few losses here and there start piling up. We’ve all experienced this. I saw a very motivated team who worked well throughout the week and were very energetic. The match day was pretty special, pretty amazing. I experienced this for the first time in the home field. They were ready to play and they managed to win. “I know everyone is excited about it and hopefully it motivates everyone to want to do it again here this week.”

“I think it starts all over again. The O-line is doing a good job, the tight ends are doing a good job. I think we’ve done a good job as a team planning things. Give him as much credit as the others, his confidence is growing. He was put in this position and he took advantage of this opportunity. He came here.” I don’t know what the touches were before he came, I didn’t look back, but I didn’t study the touches or anything. He definitely took advantage of the opportunity, he was the attacking player of the week last week because of the amount of work he put in and his attitude. I give it great, great young man, the culture that Coach Rhule has here and the players, I call it the ‘I don’t care’ level, how much they care and how much they want to play, they enjoy playing, they enjoy the training, they enjoy the process, that’s the way I want to coach. “I’m proud of the way he’s played, he’s been a big spark for us here the last two weeks.”

Dana Holgorsen reveals whether he’s adding concepts to the offense

“A little bit here, a little there. He’s got everything in the playbook. It’s a huge playbook. I think it goes back to Coach Rhule being an NFL player and the offense kind of staying the same for him. He’s added to it and added to it. Satt (Marcus Satterfield) has added to it.” NFL player Coach (Donovan) Raiola also contributes to this. NFL player Glenn (Thomas) also contributes to it. There’s all kinds of ideas, so this playbook has gotten pretty big. I’m like, ‘There’s only one page and whatever’s on the page will be called.’ I was like, This is my job. They all ask me if this is too much to let them know. I said, ‘I promise, I’ll let you know,’ give me all your ideas and I’ll organize them into a place where I know where everything is. I know we repeat and we’re good at it.’ If that’s not the case, I take them off the page and they don’t get called. We probably shouldn’t be focusing on those calls in practice. We’ve done a good job of coming together and coming up with a plan for what makes sense for our players. If it doesn’t make sense to me, it won’t make sense to them either. “

“It’s even better when you watch the tape and there are things you wish you could do better. We are excited. We’re kind of back to square one, getting ready for the next team and putting this behind us. “We’ll be excited and ready to go into Friday’s game.”

“Just building that relationship and understanding what you want to look for and when is really helpful. It was easier for everyone on the offense to be around him. You could see that as we continued to progress throughout the game.”

“Their head coach and coordinator have been together since before I was born. Obviously there is a lot of experience. They play very loudly, they play very well together. With it being the last game, you can see they are getting better and continuing to improve each week. We will need to be ready for whatever they have in store for us. “It will be a fun game and we will get the job done.”
