A fatal crash closed north and southbound I-25 Wednesday

MONUMENT — Around 10:35 a.m., a two-vehicle crash occurred in the northbound lanes of I-25 at milepost 100, according to the Colorado State Patrol. Both vehicles were able to move onto the left shoulder.

While the drivers were exchanging information, a pickup truck traveling at high speed crashed into the vehicles pulled onto the shoulder. One of the drivers involved in the first crash was ejected, striking the southbound lanes of I-25, where he was killed after being struck by southbound traffic.

Northbound I-25 is completely closed at milepost 158 ​​and is expected to remain closed until approximately 3:00 p.m. There is a detour on W. Baptist Road. The southbound lanes of I-25 have fully reopened.
