Name of the electric bike mother who was ‘hit by a 4×4’ | UK News

It was announced that the woman who died after being hit by an electric bicycle that was hit by a 4×4 was Alana Armstrong, a mother of one child.

A murder investigation has been launched after Derbyshire Constabulary said they were called to reports of a collision on Batley Lane, Pleasley, at around 8pm on Tuesday.

They stated that the collision caused the male driver and the female rear passenger to fall off the bike, and 25-year-old Ms. Armstrong died at the scene.

Police said a dark-coloured 4×4, believed to be a Land Rover Discovery, followed two e-bikes and crashed into one of them.

The driver, a man in his 20s, was taken to hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

Police added that the car that hit the e-bike drove away without stopping.

Two people, a man and a woman, both in their 30s, from the Skegby area of Nottinghamshire, were arrested but have now been released without charge and excluded from the investigation.

Police have appealed for anyone who saw the dark-coloured Land Rover Discovery, believed to have been produced between 2004 and 2009, in and around the Pleasley area before 8pm on Tuesday to get in touch.

The vehicle was last seen on Rowthorne Lane, where it turned onto the A617 towards New Houghton.

Chief Inspector Dave Kirby said: “Alana was just 25 and the mother of a six-year-old boy.

“His little boy will never have the chance to see him again with his extended family, to hug him again, to spend Christmas together or to celebrate all of these milestones. My thoughts, and the thoughts of the entire force and community, are with them at this time.”

“The Land Rover Discovery that struck the electric bike followed the two bikes through the village and continued down Batley Lane towards Rowthorne Lane, where it was last known to have been seen turning right onto the A617 towards New Houghton.

“Since Tuesday, a team of detectives has been working non-stop, investigating the scene of Alana’s murder, conducting house-to-house searches and scanning security cameras in the area.

“The two people arrested in connection with the incident have now been released without charge and are excluded from the scope of our investigation.

“We have already received a significant amount of information from the public and I would like to thank everyone who has already come forward to assist our investigation.

“But I know more information is coming out and there are people who know who the person responsible is.

“Specifically, we know that two people were in the Land Rover Discovery, which was manufactured between 2004 and 2009, that night – a man driving the vehicle and a woman in the passenger seat.

“We would urgently like to hear from anyone who knows these two men, who has seen a Land Rover Discovery with front end damage, or who knows of a vehicle matching this description that may have been recently repaired or parts replaced.” .

“We would also like to speak to anyone who may have CCTV along the A617, particularly from this junction into New Houghton.

“Eventually, I want to return to Alana.

“As a civil servant, a member of the local community and a father, I am heartbroken for his young son, his family and friends and we will do all we can to find those responsible.”
