Toledo man charged with holding pregnant woman against her will

TOLEDO, Ohio (WTVG) – A Toledo man faces criminal charges after police say he held a pregnant woman in a room against her will.

Luis Bahena, 29, of Toledo, was booked into the Lucas County jail on Wednesday on charges of Restriction of Liberty of Kidnapping and Domestic Violence.

Toledo Police records say officers were called to Bahena’s home in Idaho on Nov. 27 after a victim texted a family member that he was being held against his will. Multiple TPD units attempted to contact people inside the home and eventually forced entry.

Charging documents allege Bahena knowingly struck a pregnant victim in the back of her legs several times with a belt, causing visible injuries. Another police affidavit said the victim told authorities that Bahena had a camera in the bedroom of the home, which he used to ensure the victim did not leave when he was not there.

TPD reports stated that although the house was called “uninhabitable” and had running water, many children lived there.

Bahena is expected to appear before a judge in the coming days.
