Theft suspect jumped from balcony to roof before surrendering | News

As police approached a burglary suspect at the Harmon Loop Hotel on Wednesday afternoon, the man escaped through the back door of the hotel room and jumped from a second-floor balcony onto the roof of an adjacent building, according to a complaint filed by a magistrate judge in Superior Court.

Eventually, 34-year-old Jermaine Jake Perez agreed to climb through the roof. He was charged Thursday with two counts of burglary as a second-degree felony, possession of a Schedule II controlled substance as a third-degree felony and removal of a firearm identification number as a third-degree felony.

Charlie Charfauros Nededog Jr., 35, who was at the hotel with Perez. He jumped onto the nearby roof. He was charged with possession of a Schedule II controlled substance, a third-degree felony.

On Saturday, a man reported a burglary at a home in Mangilao. Several sealed boxes containing a PlayStation 5, a lawnmower, and $10,000 worth of collectible cards were reported stolen. Both vehicles were missing, according to the complaint. Later that day, a man contacted police and said Perez had tried to sell him some of the items.

On Tuesday afternoon, police were notified of another theft in Barrigada. The break-in was recorded on surveillance video, according to the complaint.

On Wednesday, the car shown in the surveillance video was located at the Harmon Loop Hotel and officers went to Perez’s room and made their presence known. Perez and three others fled the room, and Perez jumped onto a nearby roof.

Police found crystal methamphetamine, a syringe and ammunition among Perez’s belongings. They found a gun on the roof with its serial number erased. According to the complaint, items taken from the house in Barrigada, as well as trading cards and a PlayStation taken from the house in Mangilao, were also found in the hotel room.

Nededog was also allegedly caught by police and when they searched him, they found a glass pipe with methamphetamine residue inside.

Perez faces up to 22 years in prison if convicted on all charges. He was being held on $10,000 cash bail.

It is stated that Nededog faces a three-year prison sentence. He was being held on $1,500 cash bail.
