‘Forgotten’ baby found dead in vehicle at Florida middle school: SCSO

A baby who deputies said should have been left at daycare was found dead in a vehicle at a middle school. Florida last week.

Investigators say they were called to South Sumter Middle School shortly after 4:15 p.m. Friday for a dead baby found inside a vehicle.

According to the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office, a 15-month-old baby was accidentally left unattended inside a motor vehicle at school.

Investigators said the baby was with a family member and was supposed to be dropped off at a day care, but the relative forgot the baby was there and went to the middle school.

Later that day, investigators said the baby was found dead in the vehicle.

The sheriff’s office, coroner’s office and state attorney’s office are continuing the investigation.

“This is a tragic situation and our hearts go out to the child’s family,” the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office said in a social media post.
