AR Rahman issues a stern warning against defamatory posts about divorce, threatens to take legal action

AR Rahman will take serious action against those who have posted or will continue to post defamatory posts about his divorce or family.

The Oscar-winning music composer has been making headlines after the news of his divorce from his wife Saira Banu became public. Coincidentally, on the same day, Mohini Dey, the bassist of Rahman’s band, announced her divorce. This led many to speculate about the connection between the two separations, discussing the possible reason behind Rahman’s separation from his wife.

Amidst all the false reports being spread, AR Rahman’s legal team has issued a legal warning against those who are spreading defamatory posts regarding his divorce.

On Saturday, November 23, Rahman shared a three-page warning to “slanderers” who shared objectionable content about him.

Part of the statement reads: “It has been noticed that some social media platforms and some youtubers have started a series of slanderous and slanderous articles on the same subject with their self-concocted and fertile fictitious stories about their private lives. It has also been noticed that some busy organizations have started a series of defamatory and slanderous articles on the same subject regarding the failure of their marital life.” “They also had interviews about their perspectives. There is no need to replicate each of the statements spread on the social media platform in order to spread knowledge and awareness.”

Through the letter, they issued a warning to remove all objectionable content within the next 24 hours. Otherwise, legal action will be initiated against them.

”My client informs hate mongers and those who share harassing content to remove objectionable content within the next hour and within a maximum of 24 hours. He will be advised to file appropriate criminal defamation proceedings under Article 356 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. In such a case, the perpetrators shall be punished with two years’ imprisonment with or without a fine as determined by the court in accordance with Article 356. (2) of the said Act.”

Earlier, Rahman’s lawyer Vandana Shah had denied rumors linking Rahman and Banu’s separation with Mohini Dey’s divorce.

In an interview with Republic TV, he said: “There is no connection. Saira and Mr. Rahman made this decision on their own.”

On November 19, AR Rahman’s wife Saira announced that they had separated from the music composer, ending their thirty-year marriage.
