Priscila Kayira Pocketed Full Payment, Refused to Remove Post on Sparc

Well-known Malawian TV presenter and showbiz presenter Priscila Kayira was implicated in a possible customer fraud case over the weekend.

Reports indicate that he was paid the full amount to appear at a concert at Sparc on Saturday, but he rushed to social media to claim that he had not been paid.

On October 23, we have information that Priscila was paid K$250,000 by Sparc as half payment to host the red carpet event last Saturday, but she claimed that she did not receive the money.

But he turned up at Sparc on Saturday the 26th and became enraged with consultant event planner Temwa Luhanga, saying he had not been paid. Pressed to check and confirm, Priscila said: “I’m not getting notifications.”

To rectify the issue, officials at Sparc intervened and apologized to him but in the process they discovered that the payment had been made to him around 11:50am and that he had taken to social media around 12:30pm when he had already been paid another K250. 000.

“Sparc confirmed that he received K250,000 while his discrediting post was still trending on X (former Tweeter) and Facebook. In the post, she said she would not host the event due to poor treatment by the hired event planner,” the source said.

Later Sparc MD Dr. Wisely Phiri called him to consider refunding the money as he had decided not to host the event.

“Surprisingly,” the source said, “she simply refunded the money but refused to remove the post, insisting that she could only remove the post if she was allowed to keep the money. This was a shocking blackmail from the young lady.”

Kayira in hot soup

However, on Monday, it was revealed that the payment made to him on October 23 had even gone through, but he continued to refuse the payment even though screenshots were sent to him to prove that the transaction had gone through.

“Maybe he just wants to keep the money without working. If we are to buy his story, it’s sad that he treated a customer this way when he apologized and kept sending money without checking notifications,” our source told us.

A cross-section of people commenting on his online post describe him as emotional and needing to learn to resolve issues with customers before going public.

Meanwhile, Sparc’s lawyers also demanded that Kayira apologize and retract her post within 48 hours.
