Matthew Mousseau: Former Winnipeg teacher accused of sexual assault

A Winnipeg teacher previously accused of voyeurism and several other crimes has been charged with sexual assault and sexual abuse of a former student.

Matthew James Mousseau, 37, was accused of sexual assault and sexual abuse earlier this month. He was detained.

According to police, the investigation began in October when a woman contacted police.

The survivor said he attended an after-school program at the Seven Oaks School Division between May 2019 and August 2020, when he was a teenager.

She claimed that the student support worker in the program was an adult male who set her up for a sexually abusive relationship.

Mousseau was previously indicted in October on charges of voyeurism, sexual assault and child pornography after multiple videos of children and adults “in various stages of undress” were found in the family locker room at Seven Oaks Pool.

Friday’s charges involved a separate student from the October charges, according to Cont. Dani McKinnon.

“The survivor in this matter had listened to an earlier press release we issued regarding this individual in October and had bravely come forward to prepare this report,” he said.

Police said Mousseau worked as a teacher in several school divisions until May 2024 but was no longer teaching.

None of the charges against Mousseau have been tested in court.
