Rape suspect caught after hiding for 3 years

BUTUAN CITY – Police arrested General Santos City’s second most wanted man, who had been hiding in the town of General Luna on Siargao Island, Surigao del Norte province, for the past three years.

Surigao del Norte Provincial Police Office (PPO) Director Police Col. Nilo T. Texon identified the suspect as 26-year-old Mark, who faces two counts of statutory rape.

Police Regional Directorate-13 Director, Police Brigadier. General Alan M. Nazarro said the suspect’s arrest warrants were issued on August 1, 2021, by General Santos City, Dapa, 12th Judicial District, Branch II.

Texon said bail was not recommended for the suspect.

“I appreciate the effort and determination of our troops who operated to apprehend this wanted man, who hid for three years after committing a crime,” Texon said.

“This is clear evidence that the PNP will not rest until those with outstanding warrants are put behind bars.”

The suspect is in the custody of General Luna MPS for proper disposal, said Police Maj. Jennifer S. Ometer, chief of the PRO 13-Regional Public Information Office.
