It’s been almost eight months since Daniel James missed the decisive spot-kick against Poland that ended Wales’ hopes of qualifying for Euro 2024. But now the Leeds United winger is aiming to make up for lost time under new manager Craig Bellamy.

The 27-year-old was ruled out of Bellamy’s first four matches as Wales manager in September and October due to a hamstring injury, but returned for Nations League matches against Turkey and Iceland this month.

“It’s great to be back. I definitely miss it. I was gutted that I wasn’t included in the first two camps,” James said.

“It (the penalty miss) was hard to accept but it’s long gone now. Football is not always positive but you have to recover. “I’d be lying if I said I forgot, but I won’t let this affect future matches.”

Wales are unbeaten in their four matches under Bellamy; They achieved two wins and two draws and took second place in Group B4.

They face leaders Turkey in Kayseri on Saturday, needing a win to improve their chances of winning the group and gaining promotion to the top tier of the Nations League, before completing their group with a match against Iceland in Cardiff the following Tuesday.
