Salvation Army of Allen County seeks community help for ‘Angel Tree Ministry’ program following Toys for Tots suspension

ALLEN COUNTY, Ind. (WPTA) – The Salvation Army of Allen County is asking for community help with its ‘Angel Tree Ministry’ program following the suspension of Toys for Tots in Allen County.

BACKGROUND: Toys for Tots suspends Allen County program for 2024

The Salvation Army of Allen County’s ‘Angel Tree Ministry’ is a program that collects gift donations during the holiday season to help local families in need provide gifts for their children.

“We’re currently in the ‘we desperately need donations to meet the really growing need this year’ phase. We need donations to meet Christmas obligations,” said Capt. Dena Smith of the Salvation Army.

This year, donations are being collected for approximately 850 local families and gifts are being distributed to more than 3,000 local children, according to the organization.

  • Salvation Army office (2901 N Clinton Street, Fort Wayne)
  • Freshwater (5501 US-30, Fort Wayne)
  • All Allen County Walmart locations

The Salvation Army of Allen County requests that all physical donation items be brought to the Salvation Army office by December 6th.
